Why you should have enough sleep

In today’s world, many of the people have disturb their sleep pattern and are taking less sleep in odd hours of the day. People are now sleeping only few hours which is having bad effect on their mental and physical health. The sleep quality is also decreased as everyone is in hustle and always over thinking, some are suffering through hypertension and depression, so they are not having even quality sleep as their brain is always over processing. Having a good sleep pattern is essential for healthy and active life.

Following are some reasons that you must make your sleep pattern better:

 1: Improved Concentration & Productivity:

Having enough sleep is important for proper functioning of mind.  Cognition, concentration, productivity, and performance are all negatively affected if you are short of sleep. According to a survey some medical student interns were assigned tasks and extended work for more than 24 hours and they made 36% more errors than those interns who were given some time to sleep. A study shows that the brain function ability is negatively affected due to less sleep and has same effect as by the alcohol intoxication. But on the other hand people who take enough sleep are always active and have good and smart problem solving techniques and improved brain memory in both children and adults.

2: Improved physical performance:

Having good sleep can improve your focus and response time while doing some physical activity. You can never feel fresh while doing a morning walk or exercise if you have not took sleep of 7 to 9 hours. A study has proved this thing, longer sleep by basketball players have led them to perform well, their response time increased and mental wellbeing up rise ultimately. Less sleep by women can affect their exercise performance and can lead to functional limitation. A study shows that females having bad sleeping pattern have low pace during walk and have lower grip strength while picking up or dragging any object. On the other hand who take proper sleep do not face such issues.

 3: Reduce the risk of heart stroke:

Sleep apnea is a biological disorder which arise due to poor sleep pattern and poor sleep quality. In this disorder, while sleeping one individual stop breathing for 50 to more than 100 intervals in an hour, each drop results the heart to perform more than its actual performance to assure to pump oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. This can be identified when one snorts loudly while sleeping of feel tired even after having sleep over night. So in this case it is important to consult a doctor. You can also go for home remedies as taking Vicks vapor steam and making the sleeping posture better. Avoid excessive consumption of high fat dairy products. Taking these small measures can help you to keep the heart rate low while sleeping and can have quality sleep and reduced risk of heart failure.

4: Improved immune system:

The people who take adequate sleep have less chances to develop a disease by an attack of virus and if they are diseased they have strong immunity to fight from it and recover very soon. The reason to this is, when we sleep our immune system releases proteins called cytokines, this protein is helpful in fighting a disease and keeps you out of falling into anxiety caused by some disease. Sleep deprivation leads to less development of this protein which can have bad effect on immune system. But it can be increased and other fighting antibodies and cells can be increased by having good and quality sleep cycle.

5: Improved emotional and social interactions:

People who have good sleep pattern usually stay socially and psychologically active. On the other hand they always have a positive vide and love to socialize as they are active mentally and are responsive as well. While the people who do not sleep well are always in active and do not have the ability to identify expressions of anger and happiness. Poor sleep has negative effect on recognition of social cues and necessary emotional information.

Conclusion:

Yes healthy diet and regular exercise is good for health but having proper sleep of 7 to 9 hours a day by an adult is necessary. It relax each and every body part most importantly brain and heart rate slows down and relax. In short good sleep pattern is one of the pillar of health life and one must make their routine likewise to give proper time to sleep.
